Catherine Zeta-Jones treated for bipolar disorder
Bipolar disorder or manic-depressive disorder causes severe mood swings bouncing from one extreme to another. One moment the person can behave as if they are suffering from depressed mood, and the next moment they can become restless and psychotic when in fact they’re going through a manic stage.
According to these BBC and People articles, Catherine Zeta Jones was treated for bipolar disorder recently. She was said to be “stressed out” after her husband Michael Douglas’s battle against throat cancer.
Bipolar disorder is like mental depression. In the Five Elements theory, mental (and brain) is associated to the Metal element. Metal can be directly exhausted by strong Fire, or weakened by strong Water. Occasionally, Metal can also be affected by strong Wood.
Check out Chapter 3 of my book “Elements of Numbers: Fast and Easy Character Profiling” for more information on the Five Elements. You can also read on how “imbalanced” elemental energies can affect a person’s health.
Let’s take a look at Catherine’s EON Birth chart and Personal Year 2011, using the Elements of Numbers (EON) method and check for obvious signs of strong Fire, Water or Wood “affecting” the Metal. Incidentally, Metal is one of her Health symptom.
In the Five Elements, Water is associated to the thoughts while Wood is associated to the emotions. If you look at her PY2011 chart, the presence of Water and Wood is strong. She could have experienced wild thoughts and emotional stress.
In her Birth chart, the number 5 in the two sets of 7-5-3 can create a Fire–Water “tempest in a teapot” effect on her.
The negative energies when 7-5-3 changed to 7-7-3 or 7-3-3 can affect the heart. When the heart is at risk, the high anxiety and stress can further affect the brain and the mental mind.
The Metal (number 6 in her Birth chart and PY2011 chart) could suggest some kind of repulsing action (Metal on Fire?). Here’s a clue – we can often look

There are also signs in her monthly elemental vibes that could have further aggravated her mental health conditions, anxiety and emotions.
Remember, the heart (cardiovascular system) and lungs, brain (mental, respiratory, immune systems) may be “at stake” when Fire or Metal is strong. Do a search for “mental depression”, “bipolar disorder” and “manic” on my site and check out the earlier articles.
Every one of us do experience some form of stress, anxiety and temperamental emotions in our daily lives. We have a choice to decide whether to control our thoughts or let it control us. I know it’s easier said than done. When you make an effort to let go the negative feelings, you may be surprised by the positive results.
If you have similar birth chart or when you have strong Fire or Metal elements in your charts, try taking up some form of relaxation exercises. Perhaps you can practise QiGong, TaiChi or meditation, or simply focus your energies on other enriching pursuits instead of worrying. “Don’t Worry. Be Happy”.
When you start taking action to change your perspective and focus on other positive areas, your positive thoughts and actions can change your life. And possibly cancel your trip to the mental clinic.
